ABOUT US
The Deadbeat Club sketch troupe formed in 2008, when 3D animator/stand-up comedian Steven Katz enlisted the talent of several actor friends and fellow stand-up comics, all from different backgrounds, all sick of not getting booked. The plan was to take control of their careers by writing and producing a unique television pilot with satirical, edgy, bloody, and ultimately funny sketch comedy.
The sketches themselves originated from hours and hours of endless channel surfing (they are called The Deadbeat Club for a reason). The same tired sitcom plots, the same late night gimmick-of-the-week salesmen, the same formulaic reality shows – they were all asking for it. They practically sent a notarized letter begging to be satirized. So sitcoms, commercials, music videos, and movie trailers all got the skewer. And America is a better place because of it.
The material includes “Spic & Spann”, a fake movie trailer about two Latino gangs fighting for control over their city’s fruit trade, the incredibly popular music video “Who Don’t Like Titties?” (which will be stuck in your head for days), “Death by the Slice” which features a toddler serial killer, and “HuFu BBQ”, a commercial offering up the latest flavors in human-flavored tofu. And that’s only scratching the surface.
With crisp cinematography, clever writing, tons of green screen work, original music, photorealistic 3D animation, and high-end motion graphics, it’s obvious that every aspect was created with quality first in mind. “Deadbeat TV Vol. 1” is proof of that.
